Why “Bookends”?

In addition to a love of horses and ponies, I also love books: especially children’s books.  As a child, if I wasn’t in the barn in my free time, it was because I was lost in a book.  I have my mother to thank for both of these loves.  I decided to name my ponies after characters, titles or connections with children’s books.

Kizzy– named for the character of Kizzy in The Diddakoi, written by Rumer Godden.

Rumer– is Kizzy’s daughter and was named for the author above.

Stowaway– for the book Stowaway written by Karen Hesse.

Percy– is an abbreviation for Perseus, from the Greek myths.
