with Cindy Martin, Katie Bartlett, and Jane Jackson

introductions evening of July 31 (6 pm)

8:am- 5:pm August 1-2, 2015

$175/person

Join Cindy Martin, Katie Bartlett and Jane Jackson for a weekend of intensive hands-on practice using a clicker in daily life. When the Foundation Lessons have been trained, it’s time to put them to use. Where better to start than in the daily tasks we do with our horses? This clinic will focus on how horses and people “live under the clicker umbrella”. We’ll review Alexandra Kurland’s skills such as rope handling, food mechanics, and observation and then put them to use. If desired, we may discuss how these daily life skills then lead on to performance work and how performance work is at the heart of our daily interactions.

We will focus on practical skills, trying to cater to individual desires as possible. Choosing among a dozen topics listed on the entry form, participants will help shape the weekend.

There will be five Bookends Farm horses and ponies to work with. There may be the possibility for two horses to truck in for additional cost. These will be considered on an individual basis. Please email Jane at [email protected]  for more information.

Fee of $175 for the weekend covers the educational experience, light breakfast and casual lunch both days. Deposit of $50 is due with entry.  Payment can be made via check (mailed to Jane Jackson, 2908 Square Rd, Glover, VT 05839), Pay Pal (Bookends Farm) or credit card (please contact Jane). In the case of cancellations, deposit will be refunded only if your space can be filled. Remaining $125 is due on July 15. To join us for good local pizza on Friday evening, please add $10 to fee.

You will be free to enjoy local fare for Saturday dinner.

Clinic is limited to 15 participants, first come, first served. We will maintain a waiting list for anyone who doesn’t make it in.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging. The very rural Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is a popular summer tourist destination for hiking, mountain biking, lake activities, antiquing etc. Bring your families and make a week of it! Lodging varies: economy motels; a Days Inn; Bed and Breakfasts; lakeside cabins for rent. Anyone interested in sharing with another participant will be added to a list of contact info so you can communicate directly. Due to the tourist demand for lodging, I highly recommend you make reservations now. Googling lodging near Glover, VT will help locate possibilities. Burke Mt Resort and the town of St Johnsbury VT are also possibilities. For mapping purposes, Bookends Farm physical location is

2908 Square Rd, Sheffield, VT 05866

Please contact Jane Jackson at [email protected] or 802-279-2505 with any questions.  We are very much looking forward to this weekend!
